Important Deadlines to Close Out Payroll Quarter 2
DEADLINE by June 28
There are four key items to review to ensure your quarterly filings will be correct:
1. Employer information
- Company name and address
- Federal identification number
- State identification numbers - If you have any applied for ID numbers, we will not be able to pay and file the tax on your behalf.
- New or updated employer retirement contributions
2. Employee information
- Employee name and social security number as displayed on social security card
- Employee address
- Employee deduction amounts such as 401k, garnishment, etc.
3. Employee wage and tax information are allocated for in the payroll system
- Employee quarter-to-date wages, earnings, deductions, and taxes are correct
- 1099 contractor wages
- COVID-19 related earnings or credits
- Employee address changes that may have impacted payroll taxes
- Payroll checks such as voided checks or manual checks to employees or 1099 contractors
- Final payroll checks paid to terminated employees
- Reimbursements or third party sick pay paid to employees
4. Approve the last payroll of the quarter
- To ensure you don’t miss your last payroll of the quarter and avoid any amendment fees, your last payroll must be approved by June 28 and must have a check date on or before June 30.
