Why is my company phone number appearing on employee paystubs?

The phone number entered into the “Phone Number” field will appear on all employees’ paychecks and paycheck stubs. It should be a valid, main phone number for the business. The company phone number is not required for all states, but it is required for New York businesses to comply with the Wage Theft Prevention Act (WTPA) put into effect April 9, 2011.

The Act requires all employers in the state of New York to include the business phone number on all employees’ paychecks and paycheck stubs related to payment of wages. The employer phone number requirement is met if the number provided is valid and information regarding the paycheck can be received by calling the number. We do not report compliance with the New York Wage Theft Prevention Act.
