How should Employer Identification Numbers (EINs) be formatted?

These character formats show how Employer Identification Numbers (EINs) should be entered:

# Any number is valid. (0123456789). When you see a "#" it means a number should be entered in that space.

^ Any alpha character is valid. (ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVXYZ) When you see a "^" it means a alpha character should be entered in that space.

? Any character is valid. When you see a "?" it means any character can be entered in that space.
All Others Any other character shown besides #, ^ or ? means that the only valid entry is the character showing. For example if the valid format is showing a "0" then enter a "0" if it shows "/" then enter a "/".
