Many companies that offer retirement plans to their employees also offer some kind of company matching. They may match dollar for dollar, 50 cents on the dollar or some other percentage of a dollar. Also, the match often includes another matching element known as a maximum such as a certain percentage of the employee’s gross earnings or a certain dollar amount.
