Washington Paid Family and Medical Leave

Employees are eligible for Washington Paid Family and Medical Leave after working for a minimum of 820 hours during the qualifying period. Opt-in is also available for independent contractors and those with self-employed status. 


Benefits for Eligible Employees

The benefit amount for WPFML qualified employees are a percentage of the individual's average weekly wage (AWW) during the two periods of highest historical pay during the qualifying period. The maximum weekly benefit is $1,000 and the minimum weekly benefit will not be less than $100 per week, unless the employee's average weekly wage at the time of leave is less than $100 per week.
