Xero Integration FAQs & Tips

  • If the bank account from which you pay your employees doesn’t appear when you import your chart of accounts from Xero, you will need to add it to Xero and re-import.
  • Payroll categories in Online Payroll should NOT be mapped to Xero System accounts, indicated by the padlock in the Xero chart of accounts. A future update will prevent system accounts from being imported into Online Payroll.
  • If you’re unsure which account to assign to a payroll category, contact your tax professional. You may reassign accounts by clicking on theAccounting Integration link from the Account Center and then clicking on the Assign Accounts link.
  • If you add a new earning or deduction and run a payroll, Online Payroll will ask you to assign accounts to any new payroll categories prior to allowing you to export payroll data to Xero.
